MAC address change

Change MAC address

The MAC address is written by the vendor at the time of shipment and is not supposed to be manipulated by the user in principle. Basically, the MAC address is not supposed to be involved on the user side, but it can be changed.

Select your network adapter from Device Manager to view its properties.

* For properties, the number of items that can be set and the display name will change depending on the NIC.

On the Advanced tab there is an item called “Locally Administered Address”.

In the initial state, it is “does not exist”, but you can specify the MAC address you want to use by setting a value there. When specifying the MAC address specified here, the “:” and “-” used as delimiters are not required.

Here, change the value to “0018F32320B6” and press the “OK” button.

From the command prompt, run the “ipconfig /all” command.

You can confirm that the MAC address has been changed to “0018F32320B6”.

MAC addresses are supposed to be unique and unique. MAC addresses are not usually duplicated. Duplicate MAC addresses can cause network problems.

In addition, in managed networks such as companies, MAC addresses may be used for encryption and authentication. Be careful when changing the MAC address.
